Mr. Adam Kuperstein

2016 SHINING LIGHT AWARD RECIPIENT

The Shining Light award is reserved for a member of the community who most embodies the spirit of philanthropy, while acting out the mission of LLF. The Shining Light award recipient is honored annually at the Hearts & Stars Gala.

Adam Kuperstein anchors the NBC 6 News at 5:30 p.m. with Trina Robinson, and anchors sports at 11 p.m. He also covers breaking news and sports throughout the day.

Adam joined NBC 6 in July 2005. He is an Emmy Award-winning reporter, and has covered big stories impacting South Florida including the 2012 Presidential Election and Debate, three Miami Heat NBA championships, and a number of major hurricanes and tropical storms. He also hosts a weekly sports talk show on NBC Sports Radio, Sundays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Adam is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While in college, he announced Syracuse Orangemen football, basketball and lacrosse games on the radio for WAER.

Adam dabbled in teaching while working in Toledo. Kuperstein taught a broadcasting class at St. John’s Jesuit, where he got a chance to inspire youngsters and outline the basics of sports journalism.

Since 2012, Adam has donated over 600 children’s field trips to the Little Lighthouse Foundation’s (“LLF”) Day at the Park program, most recently in 2015 taking over 250 less fortunate children to the Miami Seaquarium. Adam has donated his time to our organization in numerous other ways, volunteering during programs and even announcing Curtis Slipman as the 2013 LLF Shining Light award winner; the very award he is receiving this year.

LLF Adam participates annually in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, riding 35 miles and fundraising for the Sylverster Comprehensive Cancer Center.

He serves as a volunteer host for countless events throughout the year, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma society’s Man/Woman of the Year Gala, the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis’ Block Party, the McLamore Foundation’s BK Beach Run, the Make a Wish Foundation’s Sports Auction, Miami Shores Bark-Off, and the Chapman Partnership’s RunWild 5K.

He is also a regular supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County, the North Miami Police Athletic League and The Jewish Federation. Further, he takes time to read to kids at the Miami Children’s Museum and visits local schools to share insight about journalism and television at career days.

As a pillar member of our community, engaging with the Little Lighthouse Foundation and numerous other impactful charities in South Florida, the Little Lighthouse Foundation is proud to honor Mr. Adam Kuperstein as its 2016 Shining Light award winner.
